A tragic accident claimed the life of Dr K. Jagadish, a 50‑year‑old neurosurgeon from Khammam, when his car hit a roadside divider and caught fire on National Highway‑365 near the Pillalamarri flyover on Sunday morning.
Jagadish, head of neurosurgery at Mamata Hospital, was travelling alone from Hyderabad to Khammam to meet his family. Around 7:15 am, his vehicle struck the iron grills of the divider, igniting a blaze that engulfed the car.
Police and fire personnel rushed to the scene, but the vehicle was completely gutted by the time the flames were extinguished. Jagadish’s charred body was found in the driver’s seat. Authorities identified him through toll gate records and the car’s temporary registration number.
Investigators suspect that lack of sleep may have caused the doctor to lose control of the vehicle. His body has been sent for post‑mortem examination, and a case has been registered.
In a separate incident on NH‑44 in Telangana, four people were killed and one injured when their car met with an accident while travelling from Mahabubnagar to Shamshabad. The deceased were identified as Kethavath Limbya, Kethavath Jamuna, Katravath Mansingh, and Kethavath Vasram. The driver, Sabavath Ashok, was injured and admitted to Trident Hospital.
