Maoists have killed a 25-year-old Shiksha Doot, Kallu Tati, near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, reigniting concerns over the safety of education workers in insurgency-hit regions.
The incident occurred late Thursday night in Todka village under the Gangalur police station area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. According to reports, Kallu was abducted from his home and later brutally tortured before being killed by Maoist operatives.
Shiksha Doots are grassroots educators deployed in remote and Maoist-affected areas to promote literacy and development. Their role has often placed them at risk, with Maoist groups suspecting them of being police informants.
Local authorities have launched a full-scale investigation, though official confirmation of the motive is pending. The killing has triggered widespread fear in the region, which has long been a hotbed of Maoist insurgency.
