Tension gripped Katamateru village in Mota Paka panchayat under Malkangiri Sadar police limits after a violent clash broke out between two groups late Saturday night, leaving seven people injured.
The incident, triggered by yet-to-be-ascertained reasons, escalated into a physical altercation. All injured individuals have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Reacting swiftly, District Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil, SP Binod Patil, Sub-Collector Duryodhan Bhoi, and senior police officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Efforts are underway to pacify the residents, with officials initiating a detailed investigation into the incident.
According to police sources, the injured are undergoing treatment, and measures have been taken to prevent further unrest in the area.
