Odisha is preparing for a rise in temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a yellow alert for several districts.
Over the next few days, the maximum temperature is expected to increase by 2-4°C, which may lead to heat wave conditions in certain areas.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds could occur in some regions. Hot and humid conditions are forecasted across Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Heat wave conditions are likely to develop in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Boudh, Bolangir, and Sundargarh starting May 10.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Authorities recommend extra care, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
