The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued an urgent appeal to tourists, visitors, and locals for any information, photographs, or videos related to the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists and left several others injured on April 22, 2025.
The agency is intensifying its investigation into the horrific incident, aiming to uncover the conspiracy behind the attack that has shaken the region and the nation.
The NIA, tasked with investigating the attack, has already collected a significant number of photographs and videos that depict various aspects of the incident. However, officials believe that critical pieces of evidence may still be missing. To ensure no stone is left unturned, the agency is now scaling up its efforts, calling on the public to come forward with any relevant details that could help identify the perpetrators and their motives. The NIA has provided two dedicated contact numbers—9654598816 and 01124368800—for people to share information, assuring that a senior official will follow up to arrange the transfer of any photos, videos, or other evidence.
The Pahalgam attack, which targeted tourists in one of Kashmir’s most picturesque destinations, has been described as a calculated attempt to disrupt peace and tourism in the region. According to the NIA, the attackers may have exploited the area’s popularity among visitors, possibly relying on local intelligence or reconnaissance. The agency is particularly interested in speaking with tourists who might have inadvertently captured the assailants or their movements in photographs or videos, as well as locals who may have noticed suspicious activities in the days leading up to the attack.
The attack has sent shockwaves through Kashmir’s tourism industry, which had been experiencing a revival in recent years. Pahalgam, known for its serene landscapes and as a base for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, has long been a favourite destination for both domestic and international travellers. The April 22 incident, however, has raised serious concerns about the safety of tourists in the region, prompting the NIA to work closely with local authorities to prevent future attacks.
Since the attack, NIA teams have been stationed in Pahalgam, meticulously combing through the site for physical evidence and interviewing witnesses. The agency is also analysing digital evidence, including CCTV footage from nearby areas and social media posts from the time of the attack.
The NIA has assured that all information shared will be handled with the utmost confidentiality, encouraging even those who might be hesitant to come forward. The agency also plans to cross-reference any new information with existing intelligence to identify potential links to known terror groups operating in the region.
