Authorities in Bhadrak, Sundaragada and Jajpur districts have ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres today in view of heavy rainfall and worsening flood conditions.
In Bhadrak, the Collector declared a holiday for 268 schools across six flood‑affected blocks, excluding Bant. Additionally, 567 Anganwadi centres in the affected areas will remain shut. Officials cited clogged roads and unsafe commuting conditions as reasons for the closure.
Sundaragada district administration also announced the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres, following IMD’s forecast of continued heavy rainfall.
Similar orders were issued in Jajpur, where all government, private and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya schools have been directed to remain closed. The administration emphasised that the decision prioritises student safety amid the flood situation.
