In a bid to promote a drug‑free society and raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, the Information and Public Relations Department of the Odisha Government today conducted a collective Nishamukta Shapath (anti‑addiction oath) ceremony.
The event saw active participation from Director Anuj Kumar Das Pattnaik, Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Behuria, Joint Director Sucheta Priyadarshini, and Deputy Director Ashwini Kumar Bhoi, along with departmental officers and staff.
During the oath, participants pledged to abstain from intoxicants and to spread awareness among family, friends, and the wider community about the dangers of addiction. The initiative forms part of a statewide campaign aiming to involve at least 10 per cent of Odisha’s population in the anti‑addiction movement.
Schools, colleges, government offices, panchayats, and social organisations across the state joined the drive, reinforcing the collective commitment to a healthier, addiction‑free Odisha.
