The Odisha government has announced the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres in six districts — Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, and Boudhagada — following continuous heavy rainfall across the state.
In official orders issued by respective district administrations, all government, government‑aided, and private schools have been directed to suspend classes for the day. Anganwadi centres will also remain closed as part of precautionary measures to safeguard children and students.
Authorities emphasised that the decision was taken to ensure safety amid prevailing weather conditions. Parents, teachers, and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and adhere to official weather advisories.
Emergency response teams have been placed on alert to tackle rain‑related incidents, while district control rooms continue to monitor the situation closely. The administration stated that the closures are temporary but necessary, given the intensity of rainfall and potential risks to commuters.
