Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled ambitious redevelopment plans for SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, elevating it to an AIIMS++ level institution.
This project, part of the state’s broader initiative to revamp healthcare and medical education infrastructure, commands a significant investment of Rs 4,474.49 crore.
The redevelopment is already underway and slated for completion by June 2026. Once finished, the hospital’s bed capacity will expand dramatically from the current level, accommodating 3,796 beds to better serve the healthcare needs of Odisha and beyond.
Additional redevelopment projects include Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer, VIMSAR Burla, MKCG Medical College Berhampur, and others, which collectively represent a significant upgrade to medical education and healthcare services across the state. State-of-the-art infrastructure, like academic buildings, hostels, and sports facilities, is integral to the modernisation efforts.
With these projects, Odisha aspires to set a new benchmark in healthcare quality, accessibility, and education standards.
