The Punjab government is set to deploy advanced anti-drone systems along the border it shares with Pakistan to address escalating security concerns.
As confirmed by the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), these systems aim to counteract attempts to smuggle weapons and narcotics via drones originating from Pakistan. By leveraging state-of-the-art technology, security forces will gain the capability to detect, track, and neutralise unauthorised drones swiftly.
This initiative emerges as a direct response to heightened border tensions following ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) by the Pakistani Army. In the latest series of incidents, unprovoked small-arms fire targeted Indian positions across several sectors in Jammu and Kashmir, including Naushera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Baramulla, and Kupwara. The Indian Army has responded with firmness to safeguard national sovereignty.
The implementation of the anti-drone system underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to fortify border security and combat transnational threats effectively.
