A sand-laden truck rammed into a bamboo-loaded truck near Kalyan Mandap in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, early Sunday morning, leaving the driver critically injured.
The violent collision caused long bamboo poles from the front vehicle to pierce through the windshield of the sand truck, penetrating deep into the driver’s cabin. The driver sustained severe injuries and remained trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
Rescue teams, assisted by Chandrasekharpur Police officers, worked swiftly to extricate the driver. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Police launched an investigation, with initial findings pointing to poor visibility and possible overspeeding as the primary causes.
This accident followed another serious crash in the same area just hours earlier. On Saturday night, a speeding car lost control after hitting two scooters and then rammed into a road divider. Both scooter riders suffered injuries, and traffic flow was disrupted until police cleared the scene.
Local residents expressed concern over the rising number of accidents in Chandrasekharpur. They urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly during low-visibility hours. Authorities assured that further investigation into both incidents is underway.
