Odisha Police has highlighted a series of remarkable achievements between August 2024 and July 2026, underscoring its commitment to building a safe, empowered, and modern Odisha.

Addressing media at Police Bhavan, DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania said the Centre’s declaration of Odisha as a Naxal-free state on March 31, 2026, was the force’s biggest achievement. Joint operations with central security forces led to the elimination of 29 hardcore Maoists, including senior leaders, while 83 surrendered and 15 were arrested.

Equally significant was the anti-narcotics drive, with seizures worth over Rs 4,195 crore, including 4.42 lakh kg of ganja, 28.53 kg of brown sugar, and 1.61 lakh bottles of illegal cough syrup. More than 5,000 arrests were made under NDPS cases, reflecting a 23.8% rise in enforcement actions.

Crime statistics showed a sharp decline in major offences: robbery down 30.2%, riots 25.6%, and murders 2.9%. Conviction rates also hit a record high of 37.9% in 2025, the highest in state history.

Odisha Police expanded its cybercrime infrastructure, establishing 20 new cyber police stations, creating 1,067 posts, and launching “Operation Cyber Kavach,” which checked nearly 40,000 mule accounts and safeguarded ₹328 crore of citizens’ money.

Women and child safety remained a priority, with Operation Anveshan-2 tracing 5,451 missing persons in just 10 days, including 786 children.

The force also strengthened coastal security with interceptor boats, drones, and surveillance systems, while modernisation included new battalions, ODRAF units, forensic vans, and digital tools for investigators.

Adding to its legacy, Odisha Police was approved for the President’s Police Colour, the nation’s highest honour for a police force, coinciding with its 90th foundation year.

DGP Khurania expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for unwavering support, noting that Odisha Police is evolving into a citizen-centric, technology-driven, and result-oriented force.
