India coach Khalid Jamil has announced a 23-man squad for Tuesday’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
The big inclusion is Ryan Williams, the Australian-born forward who recently received his Indian passport. Williams has travelled with the team but can only join the matchday squad after Football Australia issues a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and FIFA, along with the AFC, confirms his eligibility.
India trained in Bengaluru from November 6 before arriving in Dhaka on Saturday evening. The fixture carries no stakes for India, as last month’s loss to Singapore ended its qualification hopes. India currently sits bottom of Group C with two points, level with Bangladesh.
Full Squad
- Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Hrithik Tiwari, Sahil
- Defenders: Akash Mishra, Anwar Ali, Bikash Yumnam, Hmingthanmawia Ralte, Jay Gupta, Pramveer, Rahul Bheke, Sandesh Jhingan
- Midfielders: Brison Fernandes, Lalremtluanga Fanai, Macarton Louis Nickson, Mahesh Singh Naorem, Nikhil Prabhu, Suresh Singh Wangjam
- Forwards: Edmund Lalrindika, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Mohammed Sanan, Rahim Ali, Ryan Williams, Vikram Partap Singh
Williams’ inclusion highlights India’s attempt to strengthen its attacking options despite being out of contention. His debut, however, depends on international clearance.
