The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) introduced a parking fee of Rs 500 for four-wheelers at Bhakta Nivas in Puri starting January 7.

SJTA implemented the fee to regulate parking facilities at Bhakta Nivas. Devotees staying at these lodgings must now pay ₹500 for each four-wheeler. The charge includes GST and covers parking for up to 24 hours.

The temple administration confirmed that the fee applies to four Bhakta Nivas under its control. This arrangement will continue until further orders. Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee announced the directive, emphasising the need for structured parking management.

Bhakta Nivas lodgings serve thousands of devotees visiting Puri every year. With the new parking fee, SJTA aims to streamline vehicle management and reduce congestion around temple accommodations. The administration believes the measure will improve convenience for visitors while ensuring better organisation of parking spaces.

The introduction of this fee marks the first time SJTA has charged for parking at Bhakta Nivas. Devotees expressed mixed reactions, with some welcoming the move as a step toward order and others concerned about the added expense.

Despite differing opinions, SJTA remains firm on its decision. The administration views the parking fee as a necessary measure to maintain discipline and provide improved facilities for devotees.
