A small aircraft operated by IndiaOne Air made an emergency force-landing in farmland near Jalda on the outskirts of Rourkela on Saturday afternoon, injuring all six people on board.

The nine-seater Cessna Grand Caravan was carrying four passengers and two pilot when it encountered an emergency shortly after takeoff, forcing the pilot to execute a controlled landing in an open field.

Local residents, fire brigade personnel, rescue teams, and police responded immediately, reaching the site within minutes and extricating the injured from the wreckage.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed profound gratitude for the coordinated efforts that prevented a greater tragedy. In a statement, he said the swift action of locals and emergency services “saved valuable lives” and demonstrated exemplary teamwork under pressure.

All six individuals sustained injuries of varying severity. Four received initial treatment at local hospitals in Rourkela, while the two most seriously injured were airlifted to a specialist facility in Mumbai for advanced care. The state government is closely monitoring their condition and has assured comprehensive medical support.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has deployed a team to the site to determine the cause of the emergency. Preliminary reports suggest a technical issue forced the pilot to make the emergency landing, though official findings are awaited.

Authorities have secured the crash site, and normal activities in the surrounding area have resumed. The incident has once again highlighted the critical role of rapid response in aviation emergencies and the bravery of first responders and ordinary citizens.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and IndiaOne Air have yet to release detailed statements, but both are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

This incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with small aircraft operations while underscoring the effectiveness of well-coordinated ground response in mitigating loss of life.
