Pilot Captain Tarun Srivastava, who was injured in the Rourkela aircraft crash earlier this month, was discharged from the hospital on Friday after nearly 11 days of medical treatment. The crash occurred at Jalda on January 10 and left several people seriously injured.

Captain Srivastava had been receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the accident. Medical officials confirmed that his condition improved steadily, allowing doctors to discharge him following a full evaluation.

The aircraft crash resulted in severe injuries to six individuals, including two pilots and four passengers. According to official sources, one pilot and two passengers have since recovered and returned home. However, one passenger succumbed to injuries sustained in the tragic incident.

At present, one injured passenger, identified as Anita Sahu, remains hospitalised. Hospital authorities stated that her condition is stable and under continuous medical observation.

Captain Srivastava’s discharge marks a significant milestone in the recovery process following the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident while monitoring the health of the remaining patient.

Speaking to reporters at the hospital, the pilot’s wife expressed relief and optimism. “This is a moment of immense happiness for us. On January 10, the situation was extremely critical. We are returning home with renewed strength and hope to move forward,” she said.

Earlier, on January 21, passenger Sunil Agrawal, who survived the crash, recounted the harrowing experience after returning to Odisha from Mumbai, where he received advanced medical treatment. He credited the pilots for saving lives, stating that their quick decision-making and determined efforts helped land the aircraft despite a technical failure mid-air.

The Rourkela aircraft crash has drawn attention to aviation safety, while the steady recovery of survivors offers hope amid the tragedy.
