Rohit Sharma has etched his name into the annals of cricket history by becoming the first captain to lead a team to the finals of all ICC tournaments.

India’s recent victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final marked another milestone in Rohit’s illustrious career, making India the first team to reach the Champions Trophy final for the fifth time. Since taking on full-time captaincy in February 2022, Rohit has propelled India to unprecedented heights. Under his leadership, India has successfully reached the finals of the World Test Championship, ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and now the Champions Trophy.

India’s journey in the ODI World Cup 2023 was remarkable, with an unbeaten run until a heartbreaking defeat in the final against Australia. However, Rohit orchestrated a record-breaking win in the T20 World Cup 2024, leading India to lift the title without suffering a single defeat.

The recent triumph against Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final was highlighted by stellar performances from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Kohli delivered a brilliant chase masterclass, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls, while Iyer contributed an invaluable 45 runs off 62 balls, ensuring India completed a memorable run chase and surpassed their previous best against Australia in ICC events.

With this historic achievement, Rohit Sharma has firmly established himself as one of the greatest cricket captains of all time. As India prepares for the Champions Trophy final, fans and cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly anticipating whether Rohit can lead his team to yet another victory.

Sharma also set a new record for the most sixes in ICC ODI tournaments, surpassing the previous record held by Chris Gayle.achieved this milestone with a spectacular six against Australia, bringing his total to 65 sixes in ICC ODI tournaments.

The match, held at the Dubai International Stadium, saw Australia batting first and posting a total of 264 runs. In response, India’s opening pair, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, took to the crease. Despite facing challenges from the Australian pacers, Sharma managed to break Gayle’s record before being dismissed for 28 runs off 29 balls.

Rohit Sharma, often hailed as one of the most explosive batters in global tournaments, has showcased remarkable consistency in ICC ODI tournaments. Over 42 matches, he has amassed 2,160 runs, including 8 centuries and 10 half-centuries. In addition to his record-breaking 65 sixes, Sharma has also hit 231 fours.

While Sharma’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 has been under scrutiny, this latest achievement reaffirms his status as a cricketing legend. As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly await to see if he can lead India to victory in the finals and further solidify his legacy in the sport.
