Ravindra Jadeja Hits Fourth Test Century Against England In Rajkot

Rajkot: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit a much-needed hundred in the first innings of the third Test against England in Rajkot on Thursday.

Promoted to bat at No.5 due to a weakened batting line-up, Jadeja showed an incredible amount of resilience after India had been brought down to 33/3 inside the first 10 overs on Day 1 at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium.

The 35-year-old stitched a match-saving partnership with captain Rohit Sharma, who smashed his 11th ton in red-ball cricket. Jadeja faced 198 balls and hit 7 fours and 2 sixes to reach another milestone in his career.

Rohit and Jadeja added more than 200 runs to put the Ben Stokes-led team on the back foot. The game started in a disastrous way for the host nation.

Once the England bowlers brought their intensity down a notch in the Rajkot heat, both Jadeja and Rohit counter-attacked the England bowling attack and put in a 204* stand between themselves. Jadeja contributed a solid 84 off 153 balls, while Rohit put up 114 off 176 balls.
