As the sacred town of Puri prepares for the grand Rath Yatra 2025, Odisha Police has rolled out an expansive five-tier security cover to ensure the safety of millions of devotees expected to attend the annual chariot festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Director General of Police YB Khurania confirmed that 275 AI-enabled CCTV cameras have been installed across vital junctions and pilgrimage hotspots. Backed by drone surveillance, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and a significant deployment of over 10,000 personnel, the security operation also includes Indian Coast Guard presence along Puri’s beach for coastal monitoring.
