Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader & Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain was sworn in as the Pro-tem Speaker of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath of office to Swain as the Pro-tem Speaker of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly in a swearing-in ceremony held at Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan here in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Chief Secretary P K Jena, Chief Advisor to the Governor Santosh Kumar Satpathy, Principal Secretary to the Governor Saswat Mishra, and Odisha Assembly Secretary Dasarathi Satpathy, along with other senior officials, were also present on the occasion.
The eight-time MLA Swain will administer the oath of office and secrecy to all the newly elected members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, on June 18 and 19. The election to Speaker post will be held on June 20.
