The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri has received donations exceeding Rs 113 crore over the past three years, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed the Odisha Assembly on Saturday.
In his written response to the House, Harichandan revealed that from 2021 to 2024, the total contributions from various sources to the historic 12th-century shrine amounted to Rs 113,2,55,889.
The Minister provided a detailed year-wise breakdown of the donations. In 2021-22, the amount collected from the temple’s donation boxes was Rs 8,23,13,127. This figure rose to Rs 15,46,17,152 in 2022-23 and further to Rs 16,92,36,974 in 2023-24.
Harichandan also detailed the donations made through bank accounts, which were Rs 6,83,31,961 in 2021-22. In 2022-23, the temple received Rs 30,72,27,216, and in the last fiscal year, the amount was Rs 22,24,39,918 via bank deposits.
Additionally, the Minister mentioned that the temple garnered Rs 2,25,31,497 in 2021-22 from other sources. In the subsequent financial years, the figures were Rs 4,62,00,343 and Rs 5,73,57,701 for 2022-23 and 2023-24, respectively.
