Actor Ranbir Kapoor inadvertently sparked widespread reactions on social media after making a verbal slip-up during a Dussehra promotional event in Kolkata.
Attending the event alongside co-star Yash, producer Namit Malhotra, and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the Ramayana star mixed up his words while sharing a message on the victory of good over evil.
Speaking to the gathering at Salt Lake City, Kapoor began his address with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and expressed gratitude to the chief minister and attendees. However, while describing the festival’s significance, he accidentally remarked that “no matter how strong evil is, at the end, it is goodness and honesty that perishes,” intending to state that goodness triumphs. The awkward mix-up left attendees on stage briefly stunned, though Kapoor quickly concluded his speech on a positive note by encouraging people to walk a righteous path and spread happiness.
Meanwhile, the event marked a major milestone for the upcoming epic drama, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announcing that Ramayana has been granted tax-free status in West Bengal ahead of its grand Diwali release. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the multi-starrer feature—which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana—is scheduled to hit theatres nationwide on November 5.
