Security agencies in Jaipur went on high alert on Friday after the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly received a bomb threat, marking the second such scare in just 14 days.
The threat arrived via an anonymous email, prompting immediate evacuation and a coordinated search across the high-security complex.
Officials said the Assembly Secretariat received the email around 9:15 AM. The message warned of four powerful explosions scheduled for 1:00 PM and claimed that two suicide attackers from Chennai would carry out the strikes. The email described the attackers as wearing explosive belts designed to detonate automatically upon reaching their targets inside the Assembly premises.
Police and security teams swiftly sealed the area and launched a comprehensive search operation involving bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and anti-terror units. Traffic around the Assembly was diverted as investigators combed the building and surrounding zones for suspicious objects.
Senior officers from the Rajasthan Police and the Intelligence Bureau supervised the operation. Officials confirmed that no explosives were found during the search but maintained heightened security across the capital.
The latest threat follows a similar incident earlier this month, when another email warned of an impending explosion at the Assembly. Authorities traced that message to a foreign server and initiated a cyber investigation.
The recurrence of such threats has raised serious concerns about digital security and public safety. Police have begun tracking the origin of the latest email and coordinating with cyber experts to identify the sender.
