Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal addressed the National Conference of Trade Leaders on November 25, 2025, in New Delhi.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening the ease of doing business and ensuring welfare for workers.
Goyal recalled the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, whose legacy is being commemorated after 350 years. He said that following the ideals of Guru Tegh Bahadur would bring pride and honour to the nation and continue to guide India’s progress.
The Minister highlighted reforms under the Jan Vishvas Bill, which simplify procedures and reduce compliance burdens. He responded to suggestions on “One Nation, One License” by proposing a pilot initiative in Delhi and Maharashtra, where a single online portal could integrate state and municipal trade licenses.
Goyal also underlined the benefits of the four recently enacted Labour Codes, which provide substantial support to unorganised and gig workers. He explained that these workers previously faced multiple forms, inspections and complex regulations, but the new framework ensures easier access to facilities, social security, and better working conditions. Employers and employees alike have welcomed these changes.
Encouraging traders to promote Swadeshi products, Goyal urged suppliers to clearly mention the manufacturing location on packaging. He suggested that shops display signs indicating they sell Swadeshi goods, reinforcing the importance of expanding the presence of “Made in India” products.
The conference showcased the government’s focus on reforms that balance business growth with worker welfare, while also promoting indigenous products to strengthen India’s economic identity.
