Fresh controversy has erupted around Diljit Dosanjh after gunshots were allegedly fired outside the residence of his manager in Karnal, Haryana.

While police continue to investigate the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has now made a sensational political claim, alleging that the popular singer-actor is being pressured to enter politics.

According to reports, shots were allegedly fired outside the home of Diljit’s manager, Gurpartap Singh Kang, on Wednesday. Soon after the incident surfaced online, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang reportedly claimed responsibility for the firing, triggering widespread concern among fans and the entertainment industry.

However, Haryana Police officials stated that no formal complaint had yet been filed by Gurpartap Singh Kang or his family. Karnal Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya confirmed that authorities are still investigating the matter and gathering details related to the incident.

The controversy intensified after Bhagwant Mann addressed the media and linked the firing to alleged political pressure on Diljit Dosanjh. Speaking in Punjabi, Mann claimed that certain political groups were trying to persuade the singer to join politics and suggested that the firing incident could be connected to those efforts.

Mann said Diljit had clearly expressed that he is happy as an entertainer and has no interest in joining politics. He further alleged that “other methods of pressure” were being used after the singer refused political involvement.

The Punjab Chief Minister also compared Diljit’s popularity to that of Vijay, whose massive fan following helped shape his political rise in Tamil Nadu. According to Mann, influential personalities with strong public support are often viewed as valuable political faces.

The remarks have sparked intense reactions online, with many users debating whether celebrities should enter politics or remain focused on entertainment and public influence outside the political sphere.

Interestingly, Diljit Dosanjh had only recently dismissed rumours about joining politics. Responding to public appeals urging him to take a political role in Punjab, the actor clarified on social media that his work is to entertain people and that he is completely satisfied with his current career.

Diljit wrote that he is “very happy” in his profession and has no plans to shift into politics. His statement came after discussions emerged online about whether he could become a new political face in Punjab.

The singer had also made headlines recently after addressing protesters carrying pro-Khalistani flags outside one of his concerts. Diljit firmly stated that peaceful expression is acceptable, but harassment of fans would not be tolerated. He clarified that the issue was not about flags or banners, but about the intentions behind disruptive behaviour.

Meanwhile, fans have continued expressing concern following the firing incident, especially after the alleged involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang surfaced online. Many social media users have demanded stronger security for celebrities and public figures amid rising threats linked to organised criminal groups.

On the professional front, Diljit Dosanjh is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film also stars Vedang Raina, Sharvari Wagh, and Naseeruddin Shah.
