Chelsea held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in the Premier League 2025-26 season during a tense London derby on Sunday.
Arsenal remains five points clear at the top with 30 points, ahead of Manchester City on 25, while Chelsea sits third with 24.
Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring for Chelsea three minutes after halftime with a header from Reece James’s corner. Chelsea looked confident despite playing with ten men after Moises Caicedo received a red card in the 38th minute for a reckless tackle on Mikel Merino.
Arsenal responded when Merino met Bukayo Saka’s cross in the 59th minute to level the score. Arsenal pressed hard for a winner as Martin Odegaard tested Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez twice, while Merino forced another save in the closing stages.
Merino praised Chelsea’s organisation and quality, noting that Arsenal could have done more damage with sharper execution. The match featured heated moments, with referee Anthony Taylor issuing seven yellow cards, six to Arsenal players and one to Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.
