Similipal Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its biodiversity, faced a threat as four poachers were caught red-handed by forest officials in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
These individuals were found in possession of unlicensed country-made guns, explosives, and other restricted items.
The operation, conducted under Sarat police limits, became a success with the assistance of local informants. The accused are now facing legal action under the Arms Act, of 1959, and will appear in a local court in Baripada. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Similipal’s fragile ecosystem through stringent enforcement measures.
