Similipal Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its biodiversity, faced a threat as four poachers were caught red-handed by forest officials in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

These individuals were found in possession of unlicensed country-made guns, explosives, and other restricted items.

The operation, conducted under Sarat police limits, became a success with the assistance of local informants. The accused are now facing legal action under the Arms Act, of 1959, and will appear in a local court in Baripada. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Similipal’s fragile ecosystem through stringent enforcement measures.

This crackdown highlights the ongoing challenges of protecting wildlife and the collaborative efforts needed to safeguard natural treasures like Similipal.sha’s Ecosystem
