Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s adviser Tarun Kapoor visited Sambalpur on Sunday to review the progress of several flagship projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, tourism, and industrial development in western Odisha.
During his inspection of Hirakud Dam, Kapoor assessed works being undertaken under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. Officials briefed him that tender processes for multiple tourism development projects around the dam had already been completed. Kapoor instructed authorities to prepare a clear execution timeline to transform Hirakud into a leading tourism hub.

Kapoor also reviewed progress on the Sambalpur Ring Road, the redevelopment of Sambalpur railway station, and cultural heritage works at Bhima Mandali. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to deadlines, ensuring timely completion of these projects under Sambalpur Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction.
At Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Kapoor called for drafting a comprehensive master plan to establish it as a premier sanctuary in India, focusing on eco-tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community participation.
