PM Modi Calls Union Budget 2026 “Historic” and Future-Oriented

He said the Budget charts a clear roadmap toward achieving the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and gives fresh momentum to India’s reform journey.

Modi highlighted that the Budget symbolises women’s empowerment, noting that Sitharaman has set a record as the first woman to present nine consecutive budgets. He called the Budget “a highway of immense opportunities” that strengthens the foundation of India’s bright future.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the Budget provides a strong base for India’s long-term national goals. He said India’s ambitions go beyond being the fastest-growing economy, aiming to become the world’s third-largest economy as soon as possible.

Referring to global engagement, Modi mentioned the recently signed “mother of all deals” between India and the European Union, which he said will benefit youth and small industries. He added that the Budget accelerates Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

Modi highlighted key proposals such as the Bio-Pharma Shakti Mission, Semiconductor Mission 2.0, Rare Earth Corridor, textile sector schemes, toy manufacturing promotion, and champion MSMEs development. He also pointed to infrastructure measures, including dedicated freight corridors, high-speed rail, and support for Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha, marking her ninth consecutive presentation.
