Guyana: In a historic moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guyana, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 56 years.
The significance of this visit was underscored by the warm reception he received at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, along with over a dozen cabinet ministers, personally welcomed PM Modi, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.
Upon his arrival, PM Modi was greeted with a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation in various sectors. During his stay, PM Modi is scheduled to address a special session of Guyana’s parliament and participate in the India-CARICOM Summit, which seeks to enhance collaboration between India and Caribbean nations.
President Ali expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, stating, “This is a momentous occasion for Guyana and a testament to the enduring friendship between our countries. We look forward to fruitful discussions and strengthened partnerships.”
