Puri/Bhubaneswar: A special photo exhibition organised by the Information and Public Relations Department in Pallishree Mela at Bholanath High School in Puri Saradhabali on the occasion of Rath Yatra attracted huge viewers.
Organised to mark the auspicious nine-day-long Car Festival at Puri, the exhibition has showcased rare photographs with archival significance since the 18th century to date.
Besides, pictures of various rituals, observances and festivals related to Lord Jagannath’s world-famous Ratha Jatra, different Mathas have been placed in the exhibition.
Boards containing several excerpts and quotes from classical, holy and old records and literary works reflect Odia pride and self-esteem. Viewers visiting the exhibition feel an inspirational atmosphere embedded with a sense of glorious past and spiritual experience.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the exhibition while Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, I&PR Deptt. along with dignitaries were present at the inaugural event.
Saroj Kumar Samal, Director of the Department said that the exhibition will remain open till 15th July to provide important glimpses into Jagannath Cult and Odishan history.
