The Odisha government has announced that beneficiaries who have been waiting for their old-age pensions for the past five months will receive all pending dues by October.
Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Odisha Legislative Assembly today about the government’s timeline to address the delay. He confirmed that all backlogged payments will be credited directly to the affected accounts alongside their regular monthly allowances.
Addressing the floor of the House, Minister Gond highlighted that a total of 20,33,959 beneficiaries in Odisha are currently enrolled under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme. However, procedural and technical snags led to a temporary halt in disbursements for a section of recipients over the last five months.
“The state government is fully aware of the inconvenience faced by our senior citizens due to these unpaid disbursements. We are actively resolving these technical bottlenecks to ensure every beneficiary receives their rightful allowance without further friction,” the Minister stated.
To expedite the clearance process, the SSEPD Department is actively coordinating with multiple key administrative bodies, including the State Finance Department, Treasury authorities, and Central Government agencies.
The joint efforts aim to fix system integration issues and streamline the fund disbursement pipeline. With technical resolutions reaching their final stages, officials are working to guarantee that arrears, along with the October cycle’s regular pension, reach all eligible citizens seamlessly.
