A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Sundargarh Government Medical College and Hospital when a young patient, Anil Soreng of Dainidihi village, fell to his death from the hospital’s third floor on August 26.
According to reports, Anil had been admitted on Sunday and was scheduled for discharge today. Eager to leave, he reportedly became restless and ventured to the terrace. As his mother followed him, he turned back, tripped, and fell — managing to cling to the roof ledge for nearly half an hour.
Despite his cries for help, no hospital staff responded, and onlookers remained passive. His mother, Ilisaba Soreng, accused the hospital of medical negligence, stating that her son could have been saved had timely assistance been provided.
Hospital authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the incident.
