A shocking incident at Baragada Community Health Centre (CHC) left a doctor seriously injured after an alleged assault by a patient on Monday.
The attack has reignited concerns over the safety of healthcare professionals in Odisha.
Dr Sudipt Rout was reportedly examining patients when the accused, identified as Vicky Singh of Ward No. 14, Bargarh town, arrived for treatment. During a routine blood pressure check, the intoxicated youth allegedly turned aggressive and suddenly attacked the doctor.
In a violent escalation, the accused picked up a stool and hurled it at Dr Rout, striking him on the head. The doctor sustained severe head injuries and was immediately given medical care. CCTV footage of the incident is expected to play a crucial role in the police investigation.
Personnel from Bargarh Town Police Station rushed to the spot and detained the accused for questioning. Police confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events.
