The third Executive Council meeting of the Panchasakha Sikshya Setu recently convened to advance educational infrastructure across Odisha.
During the session, a total of 862 school development projects spanning 22 districts were approved, carrying an estimated total cost of Rs. 12,62,48,373. Notably, Ganjam district secured the largest share of funding, with projects valued at Rs. 1.91 crore.
Chaired by Dr N. Tirumala Naik, the Council’s Chairperson and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department, the meeting highlighted the pivotal role of alumni in driving school improvements. Dr Naik delved into key strategies for enhancing educational facilities through community involvement and leadership.
A significant aspect of the initiative was the robust financial participation from alumni, parents, School Management Committee members, and local communities, amounting to Rs. 4,41,65,582. In response, Panchasakha Sikshya Setu provided a matching grant that doubled this contribution, enabling the approval of these 862 proposals and pushing the overall budget to Rs. 12.62 crore.
The gathering included prominent figures such as Smt. Ananya Das, Member Secretary of Panchasakha Sikshya Setu and State Project Director of Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), among others.
This approval marks a milestone in Odisha’s efforts to revitalise school infrastructure through collaborative funding and community-driven initiatives.
