The paddy procurement process for this kharif season has commenced in the state, starting with Deogarh district.
Procurement will take place in 51 mandis, involving 21,414 farmers. To oversee this process, 51 Mandi Nodal Officers and 13 supervising officers have been appointed.
This year, 21,414 farmers have registered, an increase from 19,662 last year in the district. Additionally, two more mandis have been added, bringing the total to 51 compared to 49 mandis last year. A total of 62,747 acres of paddy cultivated area have been registered for this kharif season, an increase from 58,249 acres last season. A satellite survey of all registered paddy cultivated areas has been completed, and minimum facilities, including CCTV installations, have been provided in each mandi.

Currently, paddy procurement is also ongoing in the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Subarnapur, and Balangir. So far, 305,050 metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from 67,250 farmers. In this context, ₹447.22 crore has been paid as Minimum Support Price (MSP), along with ₹138 crore in input assistance.
The procurement will begin in other districts in a phased manner, with all necessary preparations underway. Registered farmers are being given advance information, and tokens are issued accordingly. Essential facilities are available in the mandis, and MSP payments are being transferred to farmers’ accounts within 48 hours.
The government has implemented an Aadhaar-linked e-KYC payment system. The State Government is taking various initiatives for the overall development of farmers.
