Bhubaneswar: Bridging the gap between the public and government in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, resumed hearing public grievances for the first time after 17 years.
CM Majhi, along with Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Ministers Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Pradeep Bal Samant, and Krushna Chandra Mohapatra listened to the grievances of scores of people in the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell at Unit 5 in Bhubaneswar.
A total of 1,540 complaints were registered today, while more than 5,000 people thronged the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on the first of the public grievance hearing.
According to reports, as the Chief Minister listened to the grievances of the people, he immediately gave instructions to the officials for resolution.
More than a thousand people came to the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell today and told their problems to the Chief Minister and other ministers.
The Chief Minister listened to their problems with deep concern and gave the necessary instructions to the officials.
Among them was an elderly woman, Saraswati Tripathy, whose children had usurped the property and thrown her out of the house. The Chief Minister immediately instructed the police department to deliver speedy justice.
A person from Jajpur, Satyajit, the father of a little girl suffering from thalassemia, met the CM seeking assistance for a bone marrow transplant for his daughter. The Chief Minister ordered officials to arrange the treatment of the girl as soon as possible and also directed for necessary financial assistance.
Many others, divyangs, elderly people who came and met the Chief Minister to apprise him about their problems, returned with positive hopes for a solution after getting assurance from the head of the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that during the previous government, there was a barrier of iron between the people and the government. He said. “Today, the iron wall has come down… And a direct communication between the people and the government has been established.”
Chief Minister Majhi said that public grievance hearings have been resumed at the district level from today as “listening to the people and trying to find a solution is an utmost priority in a democracy”.
CM Majhi further said that the process of public grievance hearings will be further strengthened and made smart.
“Along with me, the Deputy Chief Minister and members of the Council of Ministers have also extended cooperation in reviving public grievance hearings. If this continues, the officials at the district level will give priority and solve the problems of the people,” CM Majhi said.
The Odisha CM hopes that complaints would be less at the state level as people’s problems could be resolved at the district level.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that about 99 per cent of grievances received in today’s hearing will be resolved.
