Tensions erupted at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, as hostel students staged protests against alleged assaults by outsiders on campus.
The protests, initiated last night and continuing outside the Vice Chancellor’s office, underscore growing frustration among students who claim police and university inaction.
Students allege that intruders entered hostel premises during the university’s annual function, abusing and physically attacking them. Despite repeated complaints, including FIR submissions, students assert the police failed to act swiftly and instead registered cases against victims based on complaints by outsiders.
One aggrieved student stated, “Fake cases have been lodged against us instead of action against the attackers. We demand the immediate withdrawal of these cases and appropriate measures to ensure our safety.”
The protest highlights calls for accountability from university authorities and the police to protect the safety and integrity of the campus community. Both the university administration and local police are yet to release official statements regarding the incident.
