In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, a dreaded criminal, Tima Jhanankar, was injured during a police encounter in the Dumchali forest under the Rairakhol area of Sambalpur district in Odisha early Wednesday morning.
Encounter in Dense Forest Area
According to police sources, Jhanankar had been hiding in the forest region for an extended period to evade arrest. Acting on credible intelligence, a special police team launched a pre-dawn operation to track him down.
During the raid, the accused allegedly opened fire on police personnel in an attempt to escape. In response, the police retaliated in self-defence, during which Jhanankar sustained a bullet injury to his right leg.
