The Outer Ratna Bhandar (Bahar Treasury) of the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will undergo inventory and documentation from April 8 to April 10, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Saturday.
The minister said the process will cover the vast collection of ornaments and jewellery stored in the temple’s historic treasury. He confirmed that the Chhatisa Nijoga, a confederation of temple servitors, along with the Temple Administration, will decide the next steps once the documentation phase concludes.
Harichandan assured devotees that the daily rituals of the deities will continue without disruption during the inventory. He added that devotees will be allowed darshan of the Trinity as usual.
He also confirmed that all ongoing repair work at the temple has been completed, with no pending tasks. The minister emphasised that the inventory process is aimed at preserving the temple’s precious heritage and sacred ornaments for future generations, reflecting its cultural and historical significance.
The Outer Ratna Bhandar inventory marks a significant step in safeguarding the treasures of one of India’s most revered shrines.
