Team India and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan, has issued a strong statement demanding privacy for their son Angad, after footage of them at the Wankhede Stadium surfaced online.
Ganesan, who attended the Mumbai Indians’ match against Lucknow Super Giants with their son, expressed disappointment over the media attention Angad received. Sharing a message on Instagram, she emphasized that Angad is not to be treated as a “topic of entertainment” and criticized the internet as a “despicable, vile place.”
“Our son is NOT a topic for your entertainment,” she wrote. “Jasprit and I do everything in our power to keep Angad away from social media. We understand the risks of bringing a child into a stadium full of cameras, but we were there simply to support Jasprit. We have no interest in our son becoming viral internet content or national news.”
Sanjana, an ICC presenter, also condemned how “keyboard warriors” made unnecessary assumptions based on a few seconds of footage.
Ganesan had given birth to Angad during the 2023 Asia Cup, with Bumrah briefly returning from Sri Lanka at the time.
Meanwhile, on the field, Mumbai Indians delivered a commanding performance, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs. Batting first, MI posted a formidable 215/5, powered by Ryan Rickelton’s 58 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 54. In response, LSG faltered despite a strong start, with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult dismantling their batting lineup, sharing seven wickets between them and bundling them out for 161.
The victory pushed Mumbai Indians to second place in the IPL 2025 points table.
