Jajpur: One person was killed and three others sustained critical injuries when an ambulance transporting a patient from West Bengal to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar collided with a dumper on NH 16 at Chandikhole in Jajpur district on Thursday morning.
As per reports, the ambulance struck a dumper parked by the side of the national highway near the Chandikhole railway overbridge, resulting in the patient’s death at the scene.
Upon notification, the NH patrolling team and Chandikhole Fire Service personnel reached the accident site and extricated the injured. Initially taken to the Barchana Community Health Centre, they were subsequently moved to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to worsening conditions.
The driver is suspected to have dozed off, causing the accident. The scene’s visuals depicted the ambulance’s severely twisted wreckage, indicating the collision’s severity.
