Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday criticized Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer for a “neutral” investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack, highlighting Islamabad’s initial denial and blame on India.
Speaking to the media, Abdullah said, “They (Pakistan) didn’t even acknowledge at first that anything had happened in Pahalgam. Instead, they were quick to claim that India had orchestrated it. Now, when those who blamed us are offering statements, it’s difficult to take them seriously. What happened is very unfortunate and should never have occurred.”
Tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate following the deadly attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people lost their lives. In an address at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, Shehbaz Sharif had stated that Pakistan was open to a “neutral, transparent, and credible” investigation into the incident.
Sharif also urged an end to the “perpetual blame game,” calling the tragedy an example of worsening ties between the two nations.
