Odisha continues to reel under scorching summer heat as temperatures soar beyond 41°C across multiple regions.
As per data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest place in the state, recording a blistering 44.8°C by 2:30 PM today. Other locations, including Sambalpur (42.6°C), Hirakud (41.8°C), and Rourkela (41.2°C), also witnessed extreme heat.
Meanwhile, temperatures in Keonjhar, Chandbali, and Balasore hovered around 36-37°C, while Bhubaneswar registered a comparatively lower 35.2°C. The IMD has issued heatwave alerts for several districts, urging residents to take precautions against extreme temperatures.
The soaring mercury has raised concerns about heatstroke and dehydration, prompting health experts to advise the public to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and wear light clothing. Odisha’s power demand has also surged, reflecting the intensified need for cooling measures across the state.
As the summer advances, meteorologists anticipate that the heatwave might persist, with further spikes in temperature expected in the coming days. Odisha residents are advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and follow official weather updates for necessary precautions.
