Odisha is cementing its position as a premier destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with the inauguration of VCL India Pvt. Ltd.’s corporate office in Bhubaneswar.
The Indian arm of Luxembourg-based VCL Group, a global leader in steel, glass, and energy, marks a significant milestone in the state’s journey toward becoming a hub for high-value industries.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha’s proactive policies, global investor outreach, and strategic reforms have created a business-friendly ecosystem. The state’s rich natural resources, skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location have made it an attractive choice for global giants like VCL. The company’s decision to establish its India headquarters in Bhubaneswar underscores the growing international confidence in Odisha’s industrial potential.

The inauguration event was attended by distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Ms. Peggy Frantzen, Ambassador of Luxembourg to India; Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and I&PR Department, Government of Odisha; and Rajat Dalmia, Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in India. Their presence highlighted the strengthening ties between Odisha and global investors.
Hemant Sharma emphasised Odisha’s rising stature, stating, “Odisha continues to establish itself as a preferred location for global investors, offering a stable business climate, progressive governance, and a thriving industrial base. The arrival of a reputed global player like VCL highlights this progress and reaffirms Odisha’s growing appeal for high-value foreign investments. Such partnerships will foster innovation, create jobs, and significantly contribute to the state’s economic development.”
VCL India plans to expand its footprint by setting up a manufacturing unit in Odisha within the next two to three years, leveraging the state’s robust industrial ecosystem. This move aligns with Odisha’s focus on advanced manufacturing and sustainable industries, positioning the state as a key player in eastern India’s economic landscape.
Odisha’s success in attracting FDI is a testament to its results-oriented approach, including targeted roadshows and investor-friendly governance.
