Odisha’s Debadatta Priyadarshi has brought pride to the state and the nation by winning a gold medal at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad held in Tashkent.
Competing as part of the four‑member Indian team, Debadatta’s success contributed to India’s best‑ever performance at the prestigious global event.
The other gold medalists were Harshit Singhal (Punjab), Kabeer Chhillar (Delhi), and Sandeep Kuchi (Telangana). Together, the team secured four gold medals, a historic achievement for India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the winners on X, writing: “India’s Yuva Shakti continues to make a mark globally! Congratulations to our team… Their brilliance, dedication and passion for science have made the entire nation proud.” He added that their success would inspire countless young minds to pursue excellence in chemistry.
