A youth from Odisha’s Ganjam district died in a drone attack amid the ongoing Russia‑Ukraine war.
The deceased has been identified as A. Rameya of Madhabandha village under Chikiti block.
Rameya had travelled to Russia about a month ago for work. Reports confirmed that he died in a drone strike in Moscow during the conflict. News of his death spread quickly in his village, casting a pall of gloom over the community.
Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V confirmed the incident and said discussions are underway with the Indian Embassy. The district administration is making efforts to repatriate the mortal remains to Odisha.
