To give momentum to the state’s development, the Works Department today held a high-level review meeting to ensure effective implementation of the 15-point directives issued by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi to all departments.
The meeting was chaired by Principal Secretary, Works Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and attended by senior officials of the department.
Principal Secretary Singh reviewed ongoing departmental initiatives and issued clear directions on key priorities outlined by the Chief Minister. He stressed that all government work — including official correspondence, letters, and government orders — must be conducted in Odia.
Emphasising the state government’s consistent focus on employment generation, Singh directed officials to expedite the filling of vacant posts and grant promotions to eligible officers without delay.
Highlighting the need to keep pace with the technology-driven era, the Principal Secretary said traditional file-based processes cause unnecessary delays. He directed that all government work and file movement be shifted completely to online platforms, including the OSWAS system, to ensure greater efficiency and transparency.
The meeting also focused on the timely completion of ongoing critical infrastructure projects. Key projects discussed included 37 road development works for traffic decongestion in Bhubaneswar (including Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan roads), Koraput-Jeypore and Brahmapur-Jeypore highways, Namo Expressway, Atal Expressway, and several pipeline projects.
Officials deliberated on ways to streamline challenges such as land acquisition, forest land clearance, and utility shifting to ensure projects are completed within stipulated timelines.
The meeting was attended by Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Special Secretary L.K. Padhi, Additional Secretaries Deepak Ranjan Das and Pradeep Sahu, EIC Dhyan Chand Nayak, Chief Engineer (Buildings) Priyabrata Samantaray, Chief Engineer (NH-1) Narayan Patel, Chief Engineer (NH-2) Deepak Panigrahi, Chief Engineer (Bridges) Aravind Tripathy, Joint Secretary Diptiranjan Behera, Financial Advisor Ratikant Mohapatra, and other senior officers.
