Odisha’s women mountaineering team, which successfully scaled Mount Yunam (6,111 metres) in Himachal Pradesh, met Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati at Lok Seva Bhawan on Monday.
The Governor congratulated the team members for their achievement and praised their courage, determination, and enthusiasm. He said the feat would inspire more women to take up mountaineering and other adventure sports.
Out of the 11‑member team, five climbers successfully reached the summit, while six had to return midway due to health issues. The Governor described the expedition as a matter of pride for Odisha and wished the team a bright future.
The meeting also saw the presence of Association for Adventure and Social Activities (AASA) Vice‑President Haresh Kumar Mishra and Secretary‑mountaineer Ganesh Chandra Jena, who coordinated the expedition.
