A high-level review meeting of the Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCCL) was convened today under the chairpersonship of Shubha Sarma, Principal Secretary, Department of Water Resources.
The session, held at the OCCL Conference Hall in Bhubaneswar, conducted a thorough evaluation of ongoing and upcoming projects, with a strong focus on timelines, performance, and pre-monsoon readiness.
The meeting was attended by Er. Bighnaraj Purohit, Managing Director of OCCL, along with Chief Engineers, senior officials, and project heads from various sites, joined virtually to deliver real-time progress updates and ground-level insights.
Key discussions centred on strengthening administrative efficiency through regular performance evaluations of outsourced personnel. Senior officials received clear directives to intensify field visits and enforce strict oversight to ensure projects stay on track and meet quality standards.
A detailed review of budget sanctions and expenditure estimates was undertaken for both completed and ongoing initiatives. Particular attention was given to the progress of ‘In-stream Storage Structures’ being constructed across multiple rivers in the state, aimed at enhancing water storage and irrigation potential.
Principal Secy Sarma issued strict instructions to accelerate work on the Kanpur and Suktel projects, emphasising the need for completion before the onset of monsoon to enable effective water impoundment. Officials were also directed to prioritise and expedite gate works across various dam projects under different departments to avoid delays during the rainy season.
The meeting underscored the state’s commitment to timely infrastructure development in the water resources sector, ensuring sustainable water management and agricultural support for Odisha’s farmers.
